Putter headcover in cabretta leather – for blade and mallet
You touch your putter on every hole. It decides more strokes than any other club. Give it a cover you actually like.
Our putter headcovers are made from soft cabretta leather and designed in Sweden. They come for both blade putters and mallet putters, in clean white, Stripe Golf's own pattern, green leather and our Major series.
Why a putter headcover?
A putter has a sensitive face and often a fine finish. It goes in and out of the bag on every hole and knocks easily against other clubs. Small marks on the face can affect how the ball rolls, and scratches show clearly on a polished putter.
A headcover protects both the face and the finish. It also makes the putter easier to find in the bag.
Blade or mallet – which putter do you have?
The most important thing when choosing a putter headcover is getting the shape right.
Blade putter
A blade putter has a narrow, elongated head. The classic putter shape. A blade putter cover is slim and follows the shape of the head.
Mallet putter
A mallet putter has a larger, wider head, often with wings or a half-moon shape at the back. A mallet putter cover is bigger and rounder to fit the head.
Not sure? Look at your putter from above. If the head is narrow and straight, it's a blade. If it's wide and deep, it's a mallet.

Fit
The blade putter covers fit most blade putters. The mallet cover is shaped for standard-size mallet putters. Mallets vary more in shape than blades, so if yours is unusually large or oddly shaped, feel free to get in touch before you order.
Cabretta leather that lasts
Cabretta is a thin but dense leather. It's soft to the touch and ages well. A putter headcover comes off and goes back on 18 times a round, and that's when the difference between leather and synthetic shows quickly.
Care
Wipe the cover with a slightly damp cloth. Let it dry at room temperature if it gets wet, and give the leather a little leather conditioner now and then. White leather likes being wiped down a bit more often.
A putter headcover as a gift
Every golfer has a putter. That makes a good-looking putter headcover one of the safest gifts there is. Ask casually whether it's a blade or a mallet, or check the bag when nobody's looking.
How to spot a good putter headcover
A putter headcover comes on and off more than any other cover in the bag. That asks a lot of it.
- The right shape. Blades and mallets need different covers. A cover in the wrong shape fits badly or not at all.
- Soft lining. Protects the face, the most sensitive part of the putter.
- Durable material. Cabretta leather handles plenty of on-and-off without looking worn.
- Easy to take off. You shouldn't have to think about the cover as you walk onto the green.
The putter and the ritual
For many golfers, the putter is the most personal club in the bag. It rarely gets replaced, it has a history, and it decides most rounds.
Taking the cover off on the green is a small ritual. It's the moment you go from walking the course to actually trying to hole the ball. That moment deserves a headcover you like looking at.
FAQ
How do I know if I have a blade or a mallet?
Look at the putter from above. A narrow, elongated head is a blade. A wide head that extends backward is a mallet.
Will a blade cover fit a mallet?
No. A mallet is too big for a blade cover. Choose a mallet putter cover.
Does a putter really need a headcover?
Yes, if you want to keep the face and finish in good shape. The putter is the club you use most during a round.
